Infant Toddler Child Care Specialist
BASE WAGE $21.63-$23.79 per hour based on education and experience.

DESCRIPTION
SAL Community Services connects the community to services that ensure every child can succeed in school and life, and every adult has access to basic human needs like food, counseling, child care, and housing. We do this by listening, learning, and acting to help individuals and families navigate the barriers that prevent them from moving their life forward in a positive way.
The Infant Toddler Child Care Specialist provides training, support, and consultation to child care providers striving to deliver developmentally appropriate infant and toddler child care and improve access to quality child care for all children.
  • Develop working relationships with child care providers (centers and home providers) to support them in improving the quality of services to all children, with a specialty in working with infants and toddlers (birth-3 years).
  • Provide support to child care providers interested in ExceleRate Illinois quality rating and improvement system.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance based on assessments of the infant toddler program (e.g., Program for Infant Toddler Care Principles, Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale, etc.).
  • Work with community partners, e.g., businesses and schools, to increase awareness of the importance of and the impact that high quality child care has on the developing child.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A full list of job responsibilities will be provided prior to an interview. Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in child development, early childhood education or related field; OR a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following related fields with a minimum of 18 hours in early childhood coursework (Child Psychology/Behavioral Sciences, Family Consumer Sciences, Social Work, Elementary Education, Child Welfare, Family Services, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development). A minimum of three (3) years paid experience working in a child care setting including the experience required by the Early Childhood Education 5 and Infant Toddler Credential 4 Credentials and the remainder of the three (3) years working as a family child care provider, center-based administrator, center-based teacher or teacher assistant, or Illinois Preschool for All teacher.
