Sakura Ridge Farm & Lodge is Hiring a General Manager Near Hood River, OR
Sakura Ridge Farm and Lodge is a luxury 5-room bed-and-breakfast perched 1,600 feet on a ridge overlooking expansive views of Mt. Hood. The Lodge is a working farm with pear and apple orchards, chickens, an organic garden and sheep that roam the pastures. We are seeking a General Manager to join our thriving team.
The General Manager has overall operational, financial and service responsibility for the lodge and property. The General Manager must be the leader of the Lodge overseeing all service, guest relations, kitchen operations, accounting, administration, cleaning and property maintenance. This is a great job for someone with a service background that wants a multi-faceted position.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ensure a high level of quality and service to guests of the Lodge
- Manage all guest communication including phone calls, emails and online sites. Maintain integrity of service, engaging guests to solicit feedback.
- Manage bookings to ensure the lodge is properly and fully booked to ensure maximum revenue while maintaining cleanliness and service.
- Communicate clearly and directly with the chef, Lodge staff and owner on a regular basis.
- Coordinate with the chef to ensure guest breakfast and food requests are aligned with dietary requirements/needs.
- Work to maintain 5-star reputation of the Lodge
- Coordinate with the chef to make sound financial decisions for the running, reputation, and longevity of the Lodge
- Implement owner decisions
- Partner with chef on marketing events, menus, recipes for website or social channels and special items
- Positively engage with public, guests and staff
- Ensure ambiance of Lodge including music, lighting and flowers etc are in compliance with the standards set for the by the owner.
- Ensure proper reporting of all revenue, and costs, so all reporting is timely.
- Approve and hire new employees, ensuring all paperwork is properly completed and employee files are in compliance. Oversee the processing of the payroll. Ensure the labor cost is accurate and up to date, and all employees are properly paid.
- Ensure the entire property is clean and in compliance with all local and Company sanitation and safety guidelines. Oversee all maintenance and repairs to the property, reporting and tracking any issues.
- Ensure the proper storage and inventory of Lodge property, and assist with winterizing of property. Coordinate on yearly tax inventory.
- Oversee the beverage/wine program. Ensure all costs are accurate and in line with the budget and/or guidelines. Ensure all beverages are properly inventoried and stored.
- Create marketing plans for the Lodge to increase revenue. Implement and follow through on all approved ideas.
- Promote teamwork within the property, creating a positive work environment.
- Handle all guest complaints, addressing each individually, personally and in a timely manner. Copy all responses to the owner.
- Promote, coordinate and oversee all private events with the chef.
- Manage emergency situations ensuring guest and staff safety
- Oversee and execute all approved PR requests
- Create exceptional guest experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong leadership skills
- Exceptional service/hospitality skills
- Relevant restaurant and hospitality experience
- Effective communication, both oral and written
- Self-starter and highly motivated
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to motivate and inspire action in others, strong interpersonal skills
- Basic understanding of food handling and sanitation requirements
- Able to read and understand work related literature.
- Possess a proven track record for guest satisfaction
- Demonstrate a passion for the growth and sustainability of Sakura Ridge Lodge and Farm business
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Standard work week is 5 days/week at the Lodge to assist with breakfast service as needed, greeting, checking in new guests as well as administrative tasks. With notice, schedule will also include additional hours for lunches, dinners, etc as needed for special events.
- Need to be able to be stand for 8 hours
- Need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
The Lodge will provide:
- Laptop computer for guest communication and administrative tasks
- Company iPhone for Lodge guest and vendor communication
- Access to vehicle for Lodge business activities only
- Reimbursement for all Lodge related mileage per IRS guidelines
- Three weeks paid vacation
- Paid holidays are Thanksgiving week, Christmas day, New Year's day and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day
- Salary $75,000-$90,000 per year
- Performance reviews on an annual basis
- Suite for residence during operating season March - October
