Director of Internal Audit
SPHS-Corporate Compliance

The Director of Internal Audit will:

• Design, develop and implement internal auditing policy and procedure within the Healthcare System.
• Audit records of System entities and departments and interviews employees to ensure accuracy and compliance with government laws and regulations.
• Identify improper accounting or documentation and makes recommendations for improvement to senior management. Ensures risk exposures are contained.
• Assess the proper accountability of assets by conducting inventories.
• Review records pertaining to staff and material assets, such as equipment and buildings, to determine degree to which they are being utilized.
• Analyze data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures.
• Prepare and submit audit findings and make recommendations on a monthly basis, discusses and reviews findings and recommendations with appropriate management staff and Audit Committee.
• Ensure follow-up of recommendations to determine if changes have been made to processes, policies, etc.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field required.
• CPA, CIA, or CFE preferred.
• Five years of related experience required, preferably in a consultant role, public accounting or health care industry.
• Must have good writing skills in order to produce appropriate reports and recommendations.
• Substantial level of communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of employee groups and board of directors.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and management skills.
