Responsibilities

Procedure Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and may need to obtain authorization depending on department or ensures that authorization has been obtained. Ensures that all the appropriate clinical information and CPT/ICD-10 information is documented on the order. Scheduler receives requests to schedule procedures from the numerous of providers in the clinic and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines, acuity & insurance guidelines. Scheduler provides accurate information so that all departments may view daily and maintains open communication with the hospital departments and physician offices regarding schedule changes. Scheduler needs to be able to multi-task and look over multiple schedules and coordinate accordingly with office, hospital, and patient’s schedule. Scheduler communicates with the patient regarding any prep prior to procedure, provides patient with directions on where to go and any discharge information that is needed for after the procedure.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma, Associates degree preferred.2. Knowledge of insurance companies, benefits (co-pay/co-insurance, deductible and out of pocket max), verification requirements, and authorization requirements. Fluent in medical terminology and medical diagnostic procedures.3. Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment required
