Residential Counselors, 3 - 11pm

  • Annual Salary-$31,200-$33,280

Responsibilities and duties for SMHFC Second Shift Residential Counselor:

The Residential Counselor is responsible for being a role model for the children in St. Mary’s care. In addition, the position is in charge of providing for the care, treatment and custody of the children. Second shift residential counselors are responsible for the awake supervision of the children during the hours of 3:00 - 11:00 pm.

· The Residential Counselor is to be awake, alert and responsive throughout the entire shift.

  • Act as a therapeutic agent, using counseling and parenting skills when interacting with the children, providing a safe and nurturing environment during the second shift.
  • Know where all the children in the unit are at all times. Check on the children every 15 minutes and document visual contact with each child.
  • Must be stationed in such a way that each entrance to a bedroom is visible throughout the shift.
  • Utilize Agency approved behavioral support techniques and discipline as appropriate.
  • Be available for assistance to other counselors and staff in other treatment disciplines when necessary.

Qualifications for Residential Counselor: Direct care staff must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic program in social work, health, human services or education or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid driver's license and background check required.
