Responsibilities include:
• Assist with maintaining SLHS’s Federal Wide Assurance and ensure compliance with its terms, as well as SLHS polices and procedures, federal regulations, and state and local laws relative to human research subject protection.
• Provide guidance regarding the interpretation of regulations, laws, and policies relative to human subject protection to the organization’s IRBs, researchers, staff, and administrators.
• Assist with developing and implementing SLHS human research protection policies and procedures, updating as needed.
• Assist with quality assurance monitoring of the HRPP, including investigation of matters of noncompliance; and ensure implementation of corrective action, as needed, in accordance with the policies and procedures of SLHS and the IRB.
• Provide oversight and support for the SLHS IRBs including pre-review of submissions, designated review, minutes review, and regulatory guidance at committee meetings.
• Develop and maintain SLHS reliance program including local context requirements, processing IRB reliance agreements.
• Represent SLHS HRPP as a liaison with regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies (as applicable), and funding agencies.
• Maintain current knowledge of human research protection regulations and guidance as they evolve, including staying current on emerging issues; and communicate pertinent information to staff in a timely and accessible manner.
• Assist with development of metrics and regular reporting for workload volume and review timelines, as well as other reports as requested; align to industry best practices.
• Develop, implement, manage training program for new investigators, research coordinators, IRB office staff and members on IRB Submission process.
• Assess processes to identify areas of improvement.
• Implement system changes to address increasing regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Ensure IRB staff and members understand compliance obligations by overseeing development and dissemination of guidance through effective education and outreach methods.
• Other duties as assigned by the HRPP Director.
Master’s Degree plus 2-4 years of experience in an IRB office, OR Bachelor’s Degree plus 4-6 years of experience in an IRB office, OR HS diploma/GED plus 6-8 of experience in an IRB office.
Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification within the last 5 years.
