Saint Joseph School is seeking a classroom teacher who could be assigned to teach students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The teacher promotes academic and social behaviors in children in a developmentally appropriate manner and continues to reinforce such behaviors on a consistent basis. The teacher also fosters independence through the gradual increase of responsibilities by allowing students to develop the skills to perform tasks without assistance.

Essential Responsibilities
● Establishing a safe and supportive environment that is conducive to learning
● Designing and implementing authentic and engaging learning experiences using the WV College and Career Readiness standards
● Adhering to SJS assessment and grading policy and guidelines
● Collaborating with other teachers to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly
● Ensuring that students meet educational standards and school performance goals for their grade level
● Adopting a data-driven attitude toward measuring learner progress
● Tending to individual student needs
● Demonstrating an awareness of different student backgrounds and cultures
● Communicating regularly with parents
● Providing extra support to students who need it
● Monitoring student growth to identify strengths and areas for improvement
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
● Holds or eligible for a West Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in elementary
● Demonstrated knowledge of elementary content, curriculum and methodology of effective teaching
● Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators and parents
● Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications
● Excellent human-relations skills
● Proficiency with basic computer software such as Word and Excel
