POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the Head Athletic Trainer and the Athletic Training Room by:

• Assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in all phases of the sports medicine program
• Maintaining accurate records of injuries, with prompt communication to the Athletic Training Staff
• Preparing practice and game coverage
• Training room supervision
• Traveling with teams
• Supervising student work study
• Evaluating and rehabilitating student athletes
• Performs other duties to support the College as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree is required with NATA Certification and a Maine License
• Experience and knowledge in college or high school athletic training is preferred

SCHEDULE:

• This is a part-time per diem position, August 1 – June 1, that meets on a regular basis with the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Evening, nighttime, and weekend hours are expected.

EQUIPMENT:

• Familiarity with training room equipment, such as ultrasound, and electric stimulation, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Computer competence in word processing, database management and electronic mail
• Need good organizational and interpersonal skills
• Keeps current on all injury prevention and injury patterns throughout college athletics
• Will work closely with head coaches
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds
• Tolerates work related stress effectively and maintains self-control/professionalism
