Saint Francis Hospital is Hiring a Lead Sterile Processing Tech Near Charleston, WV
- JOB SUMMARY
- Supervise and provide direction to Sterile Processing staff.
- Assure all supplies and equipment is ordered, received and distributed through-out Surgical Services in accordance with department and hospital guidelines.
- Organize, direct and coordinate functions and activities in the Sterile Processing Department.
- Interpret and implement established policies, procedures and regulations as required.
- Coordinate Quality Improvement activities in the Sterile Processing Department.
- When serving in the Sterile Processing Technician job role as indicated:
- Performs and participates in decontamination, cleansing, assembling, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Receives, stocks, delivers, cycles and counts supplies.
- Works closely with Surgery personnel to prepare for procedures, in an effort to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
The Lead Sterile Processing Technician works in collaboration with the Surgical Services Director to: - EDUCATION
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Graduate of vocational surgical technician program preferred.
- LICENSURE
- Not Applicable
- EXPERIENCE
- Three to five years of experience in operating room or Sterile Processing department preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- CERTIFICATION
- Sterile Processing Certification preferred.
- COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
- Must be or become familiar with the hospital computer system.
- Minimal typing skills required.
- JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess good oral communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing preferred.
- Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period; extended probationary period may be acceptable upon a case by case basis after consultation with Human Resources and the VP of Nursing Services.
- Participates in all required educational and competency offerings related to safety, including patient safety activities. Agrees to abide by the Saint Francis Hospital implementation plans for the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals. Provides feedback concerning any patient safety issues identified within the hospital.
