SAIC is seeking a Database Administrator in Atlanta, GA. This is support the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) cybersecurity mission to ensure HHS can actively protect the vital health information with which it is entrusted, respond to existing and emerging cybersecurity threats, and continue to enhance the program to ensure HHS has the capability and capacity to respond to new and emerging requirements, technologies and threats.
This role is 100% on site in Atlanta, GA.
Job Duties:
1. Database Management:
Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS).
Create and manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
Monitor and maintain database performance, including tuning and optimization.
2. Performance Tuning:
Analyze and optimize database performance, including query optimization and index management.
Conduct regular performance assessments and implement improvements to ensure optimal system performance.
3. Backup and Recovery:
Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and availability.
Perform regular backups and recovery drills to ensure data can be restored in case of failures or disasters.
4. Security Management:
Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
Manage user access and permissions to ensure data security and compliance with organizational policies.
5. Database Monitoring and Maintenance:
Monitor database systems for performance, errors, and potential issues using monitoring tools.
Perform regular maintenance tasks, including database patches and updates.
6. Troubleshooting and Support:
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for database-related issues.
Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to resolve database problems.
7. Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes.
Create and update operational manuals and guidelines for database management.
8. Compliance and Best Practices:
Ensure databases comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Stay updated with the latest developments and trends in database technologies and implement relevant improvements. Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Must have a Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience. May consider an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, preferably with Oracle, and SQL Server.
Proven experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.
Proficiency in database management systems with Oracle, and SQL Server
Strong knowledge of SQL and database query optimization techniques.
Experience with database monitoring tools and performance tuning methods.
Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures and tools.
Understanding of database security principles and practices.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Clearance Requirement: ship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline. Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
