Saguaro Foundation is Hiring a Transportation Driver Near Yuma, AZ

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this document is to define the responsibilities, principal duties, reporting relationships and measures of performance for the Driver position.
FUNCTIONAL ROLE
The basic function of the Driver II (Demand Response) is to provide safe, efficient, courteous, and reliable transportation to all Saguaro Foundation consumers by conscientiously and responsibly operating vehicles. In addition, the Driver provides necessary supports to the Demand Response Operations Manager by accurately completing necessary documentation.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Preferred: High school diploma or G.E.D., or higher education diploma from an accredited post-high school institution.
Must complete Saguaro Foundation's Driver Training Program.
Experience:
Required: At least 2 years of experience operating motor vehicles.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to operate motor vehicles with or without wheelchair accommodations, both safely and responsibly.
Ability to develop and maintain respectful and positive relationships with consumers, co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
The ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision
Must have constant and effective means of communication with Administrative Office and Demand Response Operations Manager
The ability to deal tactfully with consumers, families/guardians, other professionals, outside agencies and the general public
Must pass Saguaro Foundation's Driver examination
Physical:
Walking: Frequently - The ability to exert a reasonably paced mobility from one point to another within a generally accepted time frame, and recognizing the conditions of the environment as to breadth/narrowness, clutter, etc.
Bending: Frequently - The ability to move and control one's torso so items or individuals can be picked up from a lower-level surface, to perform duties that include operating motor vehicles with or without wheelchair lifts, thoroughly inspecting and cleaning vehicles, etc.
Kneeling: Frequently - Ability to flex legs at the knees so that one can lower the body coming to rest on one or both knees
Handling: Continuous - Ability to grasp, hold, redirect with hands, fingers, and/or arms, turn, control and manipulate objects, to perform duties that include operating motor vehicles with or without wheelchair lifts, thoroughly inspecting and cleaning vehicles, etc.
Finger Dexterity: Continuous - Ability to control and utilize fingers in a dexterous and coordinated manner for such activities as writing, operating and motor vehicles with or without wheelchair lifts, thoroughly inspecting and cleaning vehicles, etc.
Reaching: Frequently - Ability to stretch body and extend arms to place or secure objects or individuals at a distance above, to the side of, or below the normal standing level of the individual
Squatting: Frequently - Ability to flex legs at the knees to lower the body position, to perform duties that include operating motor vehicles with or without wheelchair lifts, thoroughly inspecting and cleaning vehicles, etc.
Lifting and Pulling: Frequently - Ability to use body parts, usually arms, hands and legs (occasionally shoulders and back) to elevate an object or individual above its previous surface, or pulling as if out of a bundle
Up to 15 pounds lifting or pulling force: Frequently
Up to 20-25 pounds lifting or pulling force: Frequently
Up to 30 pounds lifting or pulling force: Frequently
Up to 50 pounds lifting or pulling force: Frequently
More than 50 pounds lifting or pulling force: Frequently
Climbing: Continuous - Ability to ascend steps, ladders and other vertical and semi-vertical surfaces to reach a higher level
Stooping: Frequently - Ability to flex legs at the knees and move the upper body forward and down, to perform duties that include operating motor vehicles with or without wheelchair lifts, thoroughly inspecting and cleaning vehicles, etc.
Note: This position may place the employee at risk of physical aggression by consumers.
Sensory Requirements:
Hearing: Ability to hear in one or both ears so that verbal communication can be received, understood and acted upon, either on a face to face or telecommunications basis
Speaking: Ability to express oneself verbally with clarity on either a face to face or telecommunications basis
Vision: The ability to, with or without corrective lenses, see road signs, signals, traffic, other vehicles and their operating indicators, etc.
Mental Requirements:
Basic Skills: Reading, writing, arithmetic and mathematics, speaking, listening and spelling fluently in the English language
Thinking Skills: Thinking creatively, making decisions, solving problems, the ability to learn, reasoning
Personal Qualities: Individual responsibility, self-esteem, sociability, self-management and integrity
Reactions to Emergencies: The ability to react quickly and efficiently in emergencies and the ability to utilize skills learned during training sessions
Interpersonal Skills:
Working on teams, teaching others, serving consumers, leading, negotiating and working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
Information:
Acquiring and evaluating data, organizing and completing documentation, interpreting and communicating, and the ability to process information
Work Environment:
Field environment (on the road) and occasional office environment. Often, general public environment in providing transportation to consumers.
Other Requirements:
Must be 21 years of age or older (Company automobile insurance carrier requirements)
Obtain a negative result on pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Obtain a clear pre-employment physical examination certifying the ability to perform this position.
Must obtain fingerprint clearance from Arizona Department of Public Safety within 60 days of employment.
Flexibility in scheduling.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Driver reports directly to the Field Manager and the Operations Manager.
The Driver reports to all functional positions superior to the Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Attend and participates in employee training sessions.
Ensure confidentiality of staff and customer information.
Identify the needs of passengers appropriately and accurately.
Exhibit respect for customer and company property.
Follow special care instructions for all passengers.
Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
Identify and report safety and maintenance needs of vehicles.
Complete vehicle pre- and post-trip inspection forms.
Complete manifests for all provided trips.
Complete and maintain fuel logs.
Complete and maintain contract tracking logs and documentation.
Account for and report receipt of passenger fares.
Operate vehicle with or without wheelchair lifts, ramps and equipment.
Obey traffic laws while driving any company vehicle.
Adhere to safety regulations regarding passenger restraints, including wheelchair tie downs, storage of equipment, etc.
Operate wheelchair lifts and ramps.
Load customers using wheelchairs.
Assist passengers in loading and unloading.
Report and document passenger cancellations and transfers.
Notify proper authorities and report to supervisor if involved in an accident.
React appropriately in emergency situations.
Document and notify appropriate parties for all incidents/accidents.
Performs any other duty as deemed necessary by superiors.
MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

Accurately and legibly completes gas logs.
Accurately and legibly completes contract tracking logs.
Accurately accounts for and reports receipt of passenger fares.
Operates vehicles with or without wheelchair lifts safely and responsibly.
Obeys all traffic laws.
Adheres to safety regulations regarding passenger restraints (seat belts, tie downs, wheelchair brakes, etc.).
Operates wheelchair lifts safely and appropriately.
Follows procedures regarding passenger cancellations and transfers.
Follows proper procedure if involved in an accident.
Reacts appropriately in emergency situations.
Follows proper reporting procedures for all incidents/accidents.
Accurately and efficiently performs any other duties deemed necessary by superiors.
