We are looking for anInfusion Care Assistantwith previous Paramedic or EMT experience to join our team. The Infusion Care Assistant will have the opportunity to work flexible hours on a PRN contract basis. The Infusion Care Assistant is responsible for performing initial screening for patients upon arrival and assisting providers with set up and IV’s. The Infusion Care Assistant is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team and will work closely with other staff.

Responsibilities:

• Print out list of patients on the schedule for the current day
• Bring patient to their designated treatment area and provide patients with available amenities
• Perform initial screening for patients upon arrival to infusion center to include asking patient screening questions, obtaining vital signs, obtaining weight, allergy information, and medication history as appropriate
• Notifies appropriate staff of positive screening or abnormal vital signs
• Documents collected data completely and accurately in medical record
• Assist provider with setting up required equipment (IV pole, IV start kits, BP machine, etc
• Assist with ensuring infusion center patient flow is smooth and efficient: be mindful of incoming patients vs. patients already in chairs.
• Provides support to the provider in the form of patient checks, vital sign checks, and/or assisting patients with ambulating to restroom during their infusion
• If delegated by provider and within the ICA’s scope of practice, complete tasks such as starting a PIV using aseptic technique, flushing PIV using aseptic technique, removal of PIV and applying bandage, and charting tasks as appropriate
• Communicate effectively to patients, providers, and other team members
• Clean and sanitize reception area, infusion rooms, and equipment between patients and at end of day
• Identify re-order items for intake team including office supplies, patient amenities, bathroom supplies
• Perform monthly medical supplies inventory check for intake team
• Check-in meds and place them in the fridge (both Buy & Bill and Specialty Pharmacy)
• Execute opening and closing checklist (special focus on overall cleanliness)
• Other duties as delegated by the provider or intake coordinator

Requirements

• Paramedic and/or NREMT License
• IV Certification experience (required)
• Infusion experience (preferred)
• Maintains BLS certification
• Maintains CPR certification
