In this role you will be a member of the Governance Innovation Team supporting our project portfolio generally and the AD Knowledge Portal specifically. You will apply your skills as a Technical Project Manager, Governance by enabling the responsible re-use of biomedical data and guiding the development of a governance product roadmap. In this role, you will engage and support members of our research community. You will collaborate across Sage teams to create and maintain governance documentation, tools, and product features. We are looking for a person who is a self-starter, adaptable, curious, and passionate about speeding the translation of science into medicine.

What you’ll be doing

  • Key Responsibility - Ensure our work conforms to the policies and procedures of our privacy and security programs, including but not limited to:

    • Assist researchers in complying with data-sharing rules and expectations

    • Work with project stakeholders to manage sharing conditions on data

    • Administer access to research assets, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely responses

    • Perform root cause analysis, identify process improvements, and execute solutions

  • Additional Responsibilities

    • Work closely with project teams to document governance requirements, define success criteria, escalate issues, and ensure all targets and deliverables are met to support project success

    • Maintain positive channels of communication with end-users, gather and analyze end-user data, and collaborate across teams to create technical specifications in response to user and program needs

    • Maintain documentation (including project plans, quality assurance checks, testing/release plans, and instructions) and provide regular reports on progress to help drive efficiency at all stages of the project product lifecycle

    • Research new software and technologies, e.g., model development, and their implications on privacy to support responsible re-use of data and other research assets

    • Stay current in applicable rules and regulations, e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, and related privacy laws, as well as governance best practices and their implementation across the biomedical data-sharing ecosystem

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a BS in a technical or biomedical/life sciences discipline. Years of relevant professional experience may also be substituted for education.

  • Have at least 3 years of work experience, including at least one year of experience managing software projects

  • Possess a deep curiosity to understand our users, their motivations and needs, and are passionate about delivering value and innovation to the research community

  • Understand privacy-by-design principles and are comfortable researching privacy and ethics implications related to data sharing and re-use, e.g., use of biomedical research data in machine learning applications

  • Possess strong communication skills, including experience providing end-user support, writing clear and concise documentation, and communicating with technical and scientific experts at various levels

  • Are a proactive colleague with strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Are comfortable working in Jira, Confluence, Figma, GitHub, or related tools

  • Knowledge of Python preferred

  • Understanding of data models a plus, not required

  • Certification in project management or privacy is a plus, not required

At Sage Bionetworks, we engage equitable workplace strategies to ensure fair compensation. Actual compensation is dependent upon current market data, experience, and pay parity within our organization. This position is a professional level position, with a compensation range of $81,700 to $117,900.

We have a distributed workforce and support remote and/or on-site hybrid work arrangements within the United States. All interviews will be conducted virtually unless otherwise communicated.
