Job Description
The CI VIE will support the organization's top-level goal of reducing cost and increasing competitiveness by providing accurate and precise measurements and analyses of the product value streams, and using such measurements to maintain product Value Stream Maps (VSM), which are fundamental to the structuring of the whole manufacturing operation.
The VIE will also support the development of local industrial standards that constitute essential building blocks in the strategic plan.
Additionally, the VIE will support simulations essential for evaluation of improvement and investment plans. Simulation support may entail coding of VSM information into Excel sheets and working with suppliers to build digital libraries using other software tools.
Complementary Description
PROJECTS AND DELIVERABLES
Conduct product time studies, supporting a transformation of the production management system by ensuring that each operation's labor standards are defined so that they correspond with the real time required for operators to perform the operation, and to perform any other tasks, notably part transport, that are required for complete processing of each part.
o These standards must be reliable to be used to compute staffing levels in each functional area of the factory.
o To assure reliability of the standard and proper capture of variability, multiple studies per operation are to be performed, along with statistical analysis of variation and subsequent presentation of results.
For support of standards development, assemble extant information from various existing sources and consult with local experts for guidance and clarification as needed.
The anticipated outcome is one or more catalogs to serve as adjuncts to the governing factory standards : catalogs such as material handling systems, workstations, common tools, and similar topics.
Manipulate VSM data and other data models in support of the factory scanning and simulation initiative.
