Role Purpose: Work in the instrumentation department building strain gage and/or load cell instrumentation for the design and production of crash test dummies and dummy calibration equipment. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Ability to Solder fine components using handheld soldering equipmentApply strain gages to various transducer parts Apply gage wire to various transducer partsThe ability to use microscopes, tweezers, ovens and special adhesive according to drawing specificationsCut gaging material with scalpelPerform quality checks including bridge resistance and checking for shortsAssist in the development of process sheets for gaging and wiring load cellsOther duties as assigned Other Significant Role Requirements: Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical CapabilityAbility to remain in stationary position for long periods of time utilizing a microscope. Must have attention to detail and fine motor skills. Customer Focus: This is a highly visible position with a critical impact on the company’s future. Internal and external contacts include all levels of employees within the company, division management, consultants, and other professional business contacts within the industry. External contacts are key to the effective execution of the objectives of the company. Frequently these interactions will involve extremely complex, emotional and sensitive issues.
