Description

SMG seeks a local Safety Advisor – Construction/General Industry in Midland, MI.

The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client’s needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change and travel. The Associate in this role will work in a construction environment.

Overview of Job Responsibilities

  • Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis
  • Support facility safe work permit writer and issuer
  • Input findings into daily site inspections for tracking
  • Track construction delays
  • Input any incident or violations into web-based system for follow up 
  • Input daily safety hours and headcount of contractors
  • Track and log contractor required inspections/site safety plans
  • Monitor safety reps from the construction companies compliance to safety inspectors
  • Provide management with daily activity log of contractor activities
  • First contact for safety related questions

Requirements

  • Three to five plus years of safety experience
  • Preferably a mixture of experience in construction and general industry 
  • A degree in safety or related fields is preferred
  • OSHA 30 Hour

Physical Demands of the job may include

  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
