Safety Center is Hiring a Work Place Safety Instructor Near Sacramento, CA

Position Description:
Safety Center Incorporated is looking to expand its team of Safety Instructors to serve its clients in Northern and Southern California. This position is ideal for an individual with workplace safety training experience looking to supplement their income with safety training opportunities. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Workplace Safety, the Safety Instructor is expected to provide quality classroom safety instruction to meet Cal/OSHA regulatory training requirements. Safety training qualification and experience are required in one or more of the following subjects:
  • NFPA70e
  • Aerial Lift - Equipment Includes: Bucket Truck, Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, Manlift (IVES Instructor a PLUS)
  • Cal/OSHA 10 &30 HR General Industry or Construction
  • Confined Space Training (Awareness, Entry, and/or Rescue)
  • Rigging and Signal Person Training
  • Defensive Driver Training (National Safety Council Instructor a PLUS)
  • DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training
  • Drug and Alcohol Awareness for Supervisors
  • Electrical Safety Training Low/High Voltage, NFPA 70E
  • Ergonomics and Back Injury Prevention
  • Excavation and Trenching Training, Competent Person
  • Excavator Operator Safety Training
  • Fall Protection, Competent Person, User Level
  • Fall Protection & Inspection, Competent Person
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Training
  • Forklift Training - Equipment Includes: Sit-down Counterbalanced, Narrow Aisle, Rough Terrain, Pallet Jack, & Walkie Stacker, (IVES Instructor a PLUS)
  • HAZWOPER 8 HR & 40 HR
  • Loader Family Operator Safety Training, equipment includes: Front-end, backhoe, and skid steer (IVES Instructor a PLUS)
  • Scaffold Training, Competent Person
  • Temporary Traffic Control & Flagging
  • Workplace Violence/Active Shooter Training
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following:
  • Collaborate with the Workplace Safety Staff to adapt safety training programs to meet the unique needs of Safety Center Incorporated and utilize appropriate training techniques to produce positive learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Staff to schedule classes, access presentations and other class material as needed, and make arrangements for travel and accommodation requirements to meet client needs for program delivery.
  • Collect and deliver class paperwork including tests, books, rosters, and class evaluations to the Workplace Safety Program Staff to ensure the timely processing of course completion certificates.
  • Provide feedback to staff to help facilitate positive client experiences.
  • Submit timely and complete expense reports to a supervisor.
  • Provide constructive ongoing feedback to help enhance the overall performance of the Workplace Safety department and to help maintain high standards in program delivery.
  • Help to increase revenue for all classes by promoting Safety Center Incorporated and its training programs with Safety Center Incorporated clients and class attendees.
  • Travel throughout Northern California (Southern California for SoCal employees) is required.
  • Other duties as required to meet the needs of our clients, employees, and Safety Center Incorporated as a whole.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations with OSHA studies/college coursework
  • 7-15 years experience in providing effective training/instruction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to engage, motivate and empower students to appreciate the value of safety training and its importance in the workplace.
  • The ability to assist in developing safety programs and training curricula.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and facilitate classroom teams.
  • Strong self-starter, including travel and lodging arrangements as needed.
  • Must be flexible and able to accommodate multiple scheduled training classes.
  • Adequate personal transportation is required including, a current drivers license, and current auto insurance (100/300).
  • Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Safety Training and Implementation:
7-15 years of experience in providing effective training/instruction

Education:
Coursework through an OSHA Training Institute Education Center, a Fed OSHA
500/501 Outreach Instructor Card with Cal/OSHA 5119 & 5109 Endorsements (preferred), CSMS, CSP, CIT, CET, OHST, CHST, CHSM Designations preferred.
Desired Experience: Thorough knowledge of Federal OSHA and Cal/OSHAs regulations, experience using internet software, including Zoom and video conferencing technology.
