Project Director SAMHSA REACH Child Trauma

Summary:

The Safe Horizon REACH program is a child trauma initiative made possible through a 5-year grant from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). The primary mission of the NCTSN is to increase access to effective intervention and to raise the standard of care for traumatized children across the country. REACH is a collaboration between our 5 Child Advocacy Centers (CACs), our Safe Way Forward Program (SWF), our Child Trauma Response Team (CTRT), and our Safe Horizon Counseling Center (SHCC). A primary objective of REACH is to integrate anti-oppressive trauma intervention into Safe Horizon’s child-serving programs.

Responsibilities:

The REACH Project Director, under the direction of Safe Horizon’s Senior Director of SAMHSA Child Trauma Initiatives, is the Principal Investigator (PI), Safe Horizon representative, and government liaison on this 5-year, multi-million federal grant. The REACH Project Director collaborates on the design, launch, administration, evaluation, reporting, and outcomes of this child trauma program that includes influencing city-wide systems and practice enhancements in collaboration with national Child Trauma model developers, government partners, and an array of internal stakeholders to ensure the success of this initiative.

The Project Director reports to and works in close collaboration with Safe Horizon’s Senior Director of SAMHSA Child Trauma Initiatives who oversees both REACH, and our other 5-year SAMHSA child trauma grant, LIFT to integrate and streamline the client services and workforce development activities of REACH and LIFT. Internally, stakeholders include over 100 staff, functioning in both direct service and leadership positions, within our 5 CACs, CTRT, SHCC, and SWF programs, operating out of nine distinct site locations, located in each of the five boroughs.

The REACH Project Director will:

· support the Senior Director in their role as PI, Safe Horizon representative, and government liaison on this 5-year, multi-million federal grant;

· play a leading role in planning, training, evaluation and adaptation efforts with national child trauma model developers;

· support strategy development for engagement of external stakeholders, including an array of government and practice partners;

· provide vision, strategic leadership and data management;

· assume a lead role in team building with both internal and external partners and implementing activities to ensure the effective coordination of all aspects of the REACH Project;

· administer the launch of the program in compliance with all federal regulations;

· collaborate with our Research and Evaluation Department to launch and implement a robust multi-methods process and outcomes evaluation, as well as finalize the design, implementation and administration of both the federal and local evaluation components of the program;

· help recruit and convene a Steering Committee of key stakeholders including client/caregiver representatives;

· establish a cross-site Racial Socialization Workgroup to apply a cultural and anti-oppressive lens to family engagement;

· gather data to monitor progress against project milestones, metrics and outcome targets and leading a data-driven, continuous quality improvement process;

· support development of our GPRA program in alignment with SAMHSA SPARS data reporting guidelines, complete and/or oversee the timely reporting of all federally required data, and maintain full compliance with all federal requirements;

· collaborate with the Senior Director in the fiscal oversight and management of the program budget.

Qualifications:

An advanced degree (MSW, PhD, MPA or related field) required.

Required:

· A minimum of two years of management experience

· Ability to provide high-level strategic leadership, expert consultation and management to a diverse, multi-disciplinary team including internal and external stakeholders

· Excellent interpersonal, team building, organizational and conflict-resolution skills

· Significant experience working with criminal justice, child protection and social service systems

· Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse and child trauma with a strong commitment to Safe Horizon’s mission and strategic goals, including our anti-racism work

Desired:

· Large scale project management experience

· Two years of experience implementing CFTSI or other child trauma interventions in diverse communities

· Expertise or an appreciation for acute, trauma-focused, evidence-informed practices working with children and families impacted by domestic violence and trauma

· Strong preference for bilingual individuals and candidates experienced working with diverse communities

Hiring Pay Range: 74,000.00 - 83,200.00 Annual

Full-time Hours: 35 Hours per week
