SAFE HARBOR MARINAS is Hiring a Dockmaster Near Savannah, GA

Safe Harbor Savannah Yacht Center is looking for marina professional with exceptional customer service and business organizing skills needed to administer our marina operations, while assisting the team with safe towing and dock operations. Must have a friendly and accommodating demeanor and be able to multi-task and prioritize requests and operational procedures while listening to and understanding customer needs with a reassuring style that exudes professionalism and integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all waterside operations
  • Follow all arrival/departure procedures
    • Communicate slip assignments to all customers
    • POC between Savannah Yacht Center and Savannah Pilots
    • Greets all customers and provide SYC Welcome Packet
  • POC for all Savannah Yacht Center Leads/Reservations
    • Tides, Weather, line handlers
    • Managing inventory of dry docking equipment
    • Order equipment/materials
    • Analyze and Inspection of when new equipment is needed (wood blocks, steel blocks, rail cars and parts, etc.)
    • Maintain dockside cleanliness
    • Slips, Utilities, Dockage Rates
    • Arrival/Departure Dates
    • Updates Vessel Contacts
    • Maintains all information on Dock Calendar
    • Manage all vessel movements
    • Manage Docks
  • Manage fueling operation
    • Day of logistics
    • POC between vessel and supplier
  • Oversee day to day towing operation
    • Escorts, Towing, Tugboat maintenance
  • Work with Towing Manager on the following:
    • Daily & Monthly checks
  • Schedule vendors for all John Deere & annual services
  • Schedule additional yacht towing captains as needed
  • Daily cord counts
    • Water slips & Service slips
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2-5 years’ marina experience preferred
  • Tug Experience is a plus
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to work safely around the water
  • Must be able to swim
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred
  • Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
