Your Mission
Job Duties:
Design, develop, implement, and maintain data and database systems, servers, and solutions; Review project requests and estimate the time, cost, and feasibility of database designs and projects within time and cost constraints;
Analyze business and software requirements and design database solutions, tables, code, and procedures to improve system performance; Ensure the quality and performance of database solutions and develop strategies to detect, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues; Provide technical support to database users and serve as a subject matter expert on company database systems and solutions; Work with management to determine business, data, and data management requirements, Prepare design specifications and functional documentation for application databases, Work collaboratively with architects and other engineers to recommend, prototype, build, and debug data infrastructures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Identify system, hardware, and software components required to meet user needs and ensure the compatibility of components with business requirements, Create, review, and finalize designs and technical specifications and establish project scope, goals, budgets, phases, and timelines;
Participate in early-stage opportunity qualification calls and lead client-facing technical discussions for establishing effort estimates;
Write code and logical and physical database descriptions and specify database identifiers using Python, Java, Scala, and Go. Create, administer, maintain, and load-test highly available and scalable My SOL clusters, cluster databases, and database servers. Write SOL deployment scripts using DDL and DML for application patches. Develop batch jobs using shell scripting and SOL and stored procedures using PL/SOL to load data files, create reports, and perform custom jobs. Implement and utilize backup and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery, database planning, and replication of MySOL clusters across multiple security groups. Operationalize machine learning models on large datasets and build production-grade data solutions (relational and NoSQL); Conduct systems monitoring/alerting, capacity planning, and performance tuning with Google Cloud data products, including CloudSOL, Spanner, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, Bigtable, B Ouery, Dataprep, and Composer. Develop test plans to test and debug solutions and modify systems, scripts, and utilities as needed. Perform SOL query and database performance tuning on a regular basis to ensure optimal application performance using tools such as SOL Server Profiler and SOL Server Database Tuning Advisor. Analyze and troubleshoot database queries and adjust indexes to optimize query performance. Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information. Ensure data quality and integrity in system databases using database comparison tools such as RedGate SOL Compare. Coordinate system improvements, bug fixes, and deployments with software development, quality assurance, and customer support teams; Run point on whole projects and provide guidance to less experienced Data Engineers. Serve as an expert within the team and help build a reputation with Google and our customers. Deliver project architectures and critical components effectively on a consistent basis. Develop standards and guidelines for the use and acquisition of software and the protection of vulnerable information. Stay abreast of the latest technology and industry trends with an emphasis on the Google Cloud Platform.
Job Requirements:
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Information Systems, and Security or related and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Special skills requirements:
Must have 3 years of experience in the following skills: Experience in building production-grade data solutions (relational and NoSQL); Experience with Data Integration Tools: building data pipelines using modern data integration tools such as Fivetran, Striim, Data Fusion, etc. Experience configuring and integrating with multiple Data Sources within and outside of Google; Large Enterprise Migration: migrating entire cloud or on-prem assets to Google Cloud, including Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Databases, Business Intelligence, Jobs, etc. Provide consultations for optimizing cost defining methodology, and coming up with a future state architecture; Experience writing software in at least two or more languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go; and Experience with systems monitoring/alerting, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $158,000 and $168,000 company bonus benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on job-related skills, experience, relevant education/certification or training, and work location.
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
