Job Description:

Coordinate with the Manager, Tutoring & Academic Support all outside-the-classroom instruction; work one-on-one with students and academic advisors to facilitate gradute student access to learning support services; develop, train, and manage academic tutors and CLAs; work with faculty and departments on the development and provision of gradute learning support services.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and train all graduate student tutors and coordinate their schedules.
  • Manage and coordinate graduate professional tutors and their schedules.
  • Work closely with the Director of CTL and Manager, Tutoring & Academic Support and to train and develop the Graduate CLA team and peer-learning initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Director of CTL, Manager, Tutoring & Academic Support and the Executive Director of Student Advising & Success to develop and manage communication strategies regarding graduate learning support services.
  • Work closely with the English Language Institute to coordinate English language support for students.
  • Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and advisors in increasing graduate students' access to learning support services.
  • Collaborate with department chairs and faculty to select and recruit student and faculty tutors.
  • Assist the Manager, Tutoring & Academic Support to hire, train, and manage undergraduate student tutors and CLAs and coordinate their schedules.
  • Assist the Manager, Tutoring & Academic Support to coordinate undergraduate professional tutors and their schedules.
  • Manage the compilation of graduate academic support data.
  • In consultation with the Manager, Tutoring & Academic Support, use data to inform changes in programs (or creation of new programs) to continually improve impact of programming on students' learning and academic success.
  • Utilize student tracking software, Colleague, OSA data systems, and other software to retrieve student data.
  • Maintain documents required for student records and manages student files for monitoring and referral purposes by adhering to confidentiality principles.
  • Manage payroll for all CLAs and student tutors
  • Answer and return phone calls, emails, and other correspondences from parents, faculty, students and other SHU departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
