SACRED HEART SCHOOLS ATHERTON is Hiring an Assistant Athletic Trainer (Certified) Near Atherton, CA

Position Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer

Department: Prep

Reports To: Assistant Athletic Director- Sports Performance

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): 100%

Schedule of Duties: 10 month

Salary: $90,000-$100,000 annual/ salary based on an hourly rate of pay

Position Purpose: Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic related injuries and illnesses of all student athletes under the guidance of the Head Athletic Trainer.

Specific Expectations for 100% FTE Coaches, Administrators and Staff in the Prep Athletic Department assigned to 10, 11 and 12 month schedules: In addition to duties and essential job functions listed in job descriptions, the following responsibilities are expected of all employees in the Prep Athletics Department assigned to 10, 11 and 12-month schedules:

  • Attend the following events: Graduation, Convocation, Prep Coaches Meetings (Coaches and AD’s), Senior Athlete Exit Interviews (Head Coaches), End-of-Season Individual Athlete Meetings (Head Coaches), League Sport Meetings (Head Coaches), Mentoring Time (Head Coaches) – up to 2 hours/week in-season and out-of-season (not to conflict with faculty office hours and can be by phone if cleared with AD in advance), Director’s Day/Campus Safety, Open House, Freshmen Welcome Night, Seasonal Sports Parents Meetings, Coaches Seasonal Workshops, All-School Masses and Espacios.
  • Professional development as required by your supervisor, work beyond your regular hours when required by your supervisor, and attendance at, or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events as directed by your supervisor.
  • All non-exempt employees are required to accurately track their time and their paid time off in the payroll system.
  • All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law. In the case you are required to work outside of your normal work schedule; non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay, as eligible
  • The agreement period for employees working 10, 11 and 12-month schedules remains as stated even in the case that the duty schedule is shifted to accommodate the sports season.

Essential Functions

  • Attends athletic events and practices, providing evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • Implements rehabilitation and treatment programs for injuries/illnesses for short-term and long-term care and injury prevention.
  • Assists in collecting, organizing and maintaining all mandated medical forms required by school, section and state governing bodies.
  • Provides athletic training for all pre-practice, practice, post-practice and competitions needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining written and computerized documentation on all athletes’ injuries.
  • Directs athletes in return to play protocols under the guidance of the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy and safe work place.
  • Communicates effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaches, team doctors and school administrators.
  • Supports the Head and Associate Athletic Trainers in scheduling and staffing all part-time athletic trainers who support the needs of the Prep student-athletes. Reports to the Head Athletic Trainer when the Assistant Athletic Director – Sports Performance is away.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Director – Sports Performance.

Qualifications

  • A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart and professional behavior based on it.
  • BOC (NATA) certification and current first aid, CPR and AED certification.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge in therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with coaches, parents and student-athletes.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English.
  • Ability to work successfully and effectively with students and colleagues: willingness to be an active enthusiastic member of the SHS community.
  • Working knowledge of computers and basic software programs.
  • Good role model and demonstrated strong ethical emphasis.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Must comply with all state vaccination requirements and show proof of vaccination or proof of eligibility for exemption.
  • Works in a traditional climate controlled office environment.
  • Works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20-50 pounds.
