Sacramento River Cats is Hiring a Mascot Coordinator - River Cats Near West Sacramento, CA

The River Cats are poised for a fantastic 25th anniversary season with exhibition games, the return of highly anticipated special events, and so much more! As the Triple-A affiliate of the San Fransico Giants, we are proud to share that Giants are grown right here in the Sacramento Region. Our team model is a winning formula of attitude, innovation, excellence, hard work, and FUN! We are seeking an outgoing, creative, and fun loving individual to bring Dinger, the River Cats mascot, to life. A successful candidate should have previous costume performance experience, take pride in ensuring brand integrity, and understand a mascot’s impact on the community and organization.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

In-Game Entertainment:

  • Perform as Dinger at all River Cats games in addition to non-baseball events held at Sutter Health Park.
  • Develop, rehearse, and perform in-game skits that encourage fan engagement and contribute to the in-game fan experience.
  • Be available for autographs, suite visits, and in-seat visits during games.
  • Work closely with the Promotions and Production Manager to continuously evolve and develop the River Cats fan experience.
  • Assist in training and managing the River Cats promotions team, Cat Crew, to ensure proper execution of promotions, skits, and other game related elements.

Community Relations:

  • Manage all inbound Dinger appearance requests and attend community appearances as Dinger to ensure positive community engagement.
  • Prospect and research additional community appearance opportunities to extend our reach in the greater Sacramento community.
  • Proactively use community appearances as marketing and lead generation opportunities, distributing flyers/pocket schedules and/or following up with appearance contacts with various ticket offers and game information.
  • Maintain an accurate schedule to maximize number of outside appearances in order to successfully meet annual appearances goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator to attend street team appearances as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Promotions & Production Manager to schedule Cat Crew team members to assist in Dinger appearances.

Other:

  • Maintain Dinger’s costumes to ensure cleanliness and good working order.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage room and company van.
  • Participate in weekly marketing meetings and coordinate with marketing team to hit all marketing objectives and sales goals.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have previous mascot and/or costume performance experience.
  • Must be able to endure hot and humid conditions while in costume.
  • Comfortable dancing and performing in front of large audiences.
  • Communicates well nonverbally.
  • Experience working with or comfort around children.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including all 75 home games, nights, and weekends.
  • Must have a great sense of humor and love working with people.
  • Must have reliable transportation as well as a valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Have dance, gymnastic or acting experience, and/or training.
  • Previous mascot training.

Physical Requirements:

  • Height requirements – 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 2 inches.
  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions.

Compensation:

The expected annual base salary for this role is $41,600-$45,760. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors such as location are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following perks below.
