You will be joining a team of enterprise technology analysts working in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment dedicated to leading edge SAP, CRM, and Smart Grid applications specifically related to the utility industry solution IS-U CCS and other enterprise applications. We are responsible for the design, configuration, operation, maintenance and enhancement of these enterprise applications to ensure that they are reliable, accessible, and meet the needs of the business units.

We are looking for individuals who are adept at managing concurrent assignments, of varying complexities, and who can effectively work both independently or in a team while being open to learning new technologies and acquiring new skill sets.
Essential functions of the job include configuring SAP, and other enterprise applications, to support system modifications and enhancements; provide technical consultation to the business unit; define technical requirements by collaborating with process owners; develop detailed designs and specifications; develop testing criteria and conduct testing; plan implementation strategies; communicate technical information to the user community; optimize enterprise applications.

We are posting this opportunity for the Associate SAP Enterprise Technology Analyst Entry along with our SAP Enterprise Technology Analyst Intermediate level position. The department will be filling one position at either of those levels. To perform at a level of specialized business process and technical support utilizing SMUD's various enterprise and other integrated technology solutions in the areas of design, configuration, operation, maintenance, and enhancement, and perform as a key functional resource to the user community ensuring reliability and accessibility to effectively meet the needs of the business unit overall.
This is the entry level (E) within the Enterprise Technology Analyst classification series, consisting of entry (E), intermediate (I) and journey (J) levels. Incumbents will demonstrate an aptitude to learn and develop in the following five specialty areas:
- Enterprise Systems Design
- Enterprise Applications: Modifications and Enhancements
- Enterprise Applications: Optimization
- Enterprise System Reporting
- Project Management
Incumbents are provided formal training and/or certification, and once successfully completed, are promoted/progressed to the intermediate and/or journey level. Incumbents in this classification are expected to take a primary role on less complex tasks while being supported by more experienced team members to help ensure success, as needed.
Incumbents hired at the entry level are required to successfully progress to the journey level within 18 to 60 months, depending on the length of the training and/or certification program. If an employee is unsuccessful with progressing to the journey level, they will return to last class held (internal incumbents) or separate from SMUD (external incumbents).
Either one plus (1 ) year of progressively responsible relevant work experience as an analyst in the areas of day-to-day design and maintenance of enterprise applications, or three plus (3 ) years of progressively responsible experience within a business unit with broad and deep knowledge of business processes and/or technology.
Concepts of enterprise applications systems design, configuration and functionality; concepts of the system development lifecycle; concepts of implementation strategies; concepts of data modeling, structured query language, scripting, report design, administration, data maintenance and retrieval; (familiar with) complex computer systems and resources, electronic records, database administration; techniques and practices for resolving technical issues; standard business policies and/or procedures; standard operating procedures for modern office equipment including a computer and applicable software.
Understand complex and/or controversial policies, regulations, procedures, and/or activities internally/externally; assess procedures/systems and assist in the development/implementation of operational improvements; recognize how a system should work under ideal conditions; participate in evaluating and resolving complex technical issues; participate in generating viable alternatives to problems; utilize reasoning and analysis to identify the advantages and disadvantages of different approaches; read and interpret plans, diagrams and specifications; prioritize own work assignments to meet expected timeframes; assess business processes; participate in matching user requirements to system capabilities; assist in developing detailed specifications; recognize/select system integration points; assist in developing testing criteria and conducting testing; effectively work on one's own and/or in a team; assist in troubleshooting user and system problems; assist in performing ad-hoc reporting and make script changes to reports and forms; stay abreast of new IT technology, tools and methods to support and develop business applications; utilize a personal computer, systems, and software relevant to the job; communicate effectively orally and in writing internally/externally; assist in coordinating optimization efforts; establish and maintain effective internal/external working relationships and work effectively in diverse teams.
BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Computer Science, MIS, or related field or equivalent experience.
