Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District is Hiring a Public Service Opportunity: Hearing Board MEMBER FROM THE MEDICAL PROFESSION Near CA, CA

Open Hearing Board Member Position: Member from the Medical Profession whose specialized skills, training, or interests are in the fields of environmental medicine, community medicine, or occupational/toxicologic medicine.
This is a volunteer position. There is no salary. Members of the Hearing Board receive a stipend of $75.00 per meeting day.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (District) is a local public agency designated by the California legislature to develop, implement, monitor, and enforce local air pollution control rules, regulations, and strategies. Our mission is to achieve state and federal clean air and climate goals.
The Hearing Board is established by state law and consists of five members: an attorney, a professional engineer, a member from the medical profession, and two members of the general public.The Hearing Board serves an important role in protecting air quality and providing relief, where appropriate, to businesses and other entities that may experience temporary difficulty in meeting regulatory requirements. The Board also issues abatement orders to bring recalcitrant entities into compliance with applicable air quality regulations. Hearing Board members are essential to the proper functioning of the Board and so fulfill an important public service.The applicants for the Hearing Board are evaluated based on their qualifications to serve as representatives for their profession, field of endeavor, or the community, as the case may be.Hearing Board members serve a term of three years and may be re-appointed. The Member from the Medical Profession position is open until filled with applications reviewed as received. The Hearing Board meets, as needed, on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Typically there are three to four Hearing Board meetings per year depending on the volume of cases filed. Meetings are held at the District's office at 777 12th Street, Ste. 300, Sacramento, CA 95814.
