PurposeWe are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Laser Operator. As a Laser Operator/Programmer, you will be responsible for operating a laser, loading and running the 2D and 3D programs for the laser, quality measurements, continuous improvement, and knowing how to start and stop the laser safely. The Laser Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the laser.

Physical SummaryWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use his/her hands, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift or pull 55-80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus—hearing capacity required to maximize the ability to understand all verbal communication and react accordingly.

Essential Functions
- Operate the machine in a safe manner
- Perform quality first-piece inspections
- Separate finished product from skeleton
- Program to load and run
- Responsible for the quality of the product.
- Know how to start and stop Laser properly.
- 2D Programming of laser to nest parts for 2D cutting path
- Load steel and unload parts from the laser and placed together per job order
- Responsible for all material handling of laser parts
- Repair of all nonconforming parts
- DXFs updated, and old files deleted when a programming alert has been received
- Keep necessary operational and quality records and complete required paperwork
- Keep productive during job cuts
- Implement continuous improvement ideas
- 5-S responsibility for the area.
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Programming 2D laser ability
- Familiarity with material handling equipment
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Must have excellent attendance as well as willingness and ability to work overtime
- Physically demanding task of unloading parts from sheet steel skeletons throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds continuously.
- Must be able to pull and position steel sheets.
- Must be able to stand for long periods.
