SAB Construction, LLC is Hiring a Purchasing Specialist Near Lees Summit, MO

Local award-winning home builder in search of a full-time Purchasing Specialist to join our team. We place a lot of importance on providing exceptional quality. Responsibilities of the Purchasing Specialist:

  • Contacting trade partners for labor and material costs for creating purchase orders and change orders.
  • Manage and oversee the Buildertrend software program for the company.
  • Set-up all aspects of the jobs within the Buildertrend program – to include, but not limited to:
  • Estimates/budgets, including selection options.
  • Job schedules and assigning contractors.
  • Create change orders and process for approval with clients.
  • Analysis of actual costs versus budgets to improve estimating and job costing.
  • Analytics/Process Improvement.
  • Perform financial analysis of the impact of new and existing contracts.
  • Estimating and take-off unit quantities for specific trade categories.
  • Assist Pricing & Estimating manager with day-to-day tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Works with our subcontractors and vendors as needed.
  • Using Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Managing and tracking daily activities in Microsoft Office.
  • Address issues promptly, efficiently, and in a courteous manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements of Purchasing Specialist:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and must have reliable transportation.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must have great references and work history.
  • Must have HS Diploma/GED and 2 years of college, trade school, or job experience in similar fields.
  • Experience with Buildertrend or Co-Construct software is very helpful.
  • Experience with ComputerEase accounting software is very helpful.
  • Experience with estimating, purchasing, and purchase orders is very helpful.
  • Accounting skills are very helpful.
  • Residential construction knowledge is very helpful.
  • Must have very strong customer service and phone skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel spreadsheets, Outlook, and Word with an aptitude to learn new software programs.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Professional
  • Advanced data entry skills.
  • Ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to analyze information, identifying discrepancies and inconsistencies.
  • Able to plan and prioritize while focusing on detail orientation and effective time management.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and administer a task priority listing based on company needs.
  • Collaborative and able to work with trade partners and employees across multiple departments.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Must work well with others and function in a team environment.
  • Must possess the ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with our vendors, personnel, and clients.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be very organized with great attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong Problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and able to drop/pick-up tasks as requested.
  • Must accept be able to accept constructive criticism.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • This is an in person full-time position only. Neither remote nor part time will be considered
  • Prompt and timely attendance required.

Physical Demand/Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift, move, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Driving is required in this position.

Work Hours

This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Occasional travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.
