S&P USA Ventilation Systems, LLC is Hiring a Jr. Buyer Near Jacksonville, FL

Position Summary:
  • This procedure describes the basic functions, reporting relationships, authority, and responsibilities of the Jr Buyer at S&P USA.
  • The Job Description provides the performance criteria for the position. It also states the Job Requirements as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • The person occupying the position of Jr Buyer is responsible for coordinating and procuring materials and services to be used in the manufacturing process, focusing on service level, turns, and acquisition, logistics and handling costs. Also responsible for recommending alternate suppliers of new or existing items, making adjustments to inventory stock levels and quantities to be purchased, meet with manufacturers, vendors, and coordinating purchasing functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review competitive bid information to create and expedite the placement of orders with suppliers for a broad scope of raw materials, COTS and part acquisition.
  • Maintain awareness of manufacturing requirements to ensure on time delivery of products to our customers is met.
  • Select suppliers, analyze trends, and establish price objectives, as well as, evaluate proposals, negotiate prices and/or subcontract provisions.
  • Determine and perform intercompany transfer requirements between the various warehouse locations.
  • Assist with new part number and supplier set up as well as maintaining purchasing database for accuracy, including demand, supplier lead-times, and prepaid freight to increase purchasing efficiency.
  • Provide status communications to Purchasing Manager and/or other management where appropriate or required.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
  • Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
  • Maintains procurement records such as times or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries, and inventories.
  • Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
  • May verify invoices from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approve bills for payment.
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users.
  • Meet attendance requirements and maintain a high standard of integrity and reliability.
  • Observe all company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work additional hours to support the organization’s needs.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
Educational Requirements:
  • One (1) to three (3) years of buying and/or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including database integration, formulas and pivot tables required.
  • Good business systems skills, including experience in the implementation and operation of ERP systems.
  • Ability to use and maintain web-based sourcing tools.
  • Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret English documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate in English (read, write and speak) is required as the overwhelming majority of customers, vendors, co-workers, and suppliers communicate in this language.
  • Reasoning ability is required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, as well as the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical abilities to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, as well as the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret several types of graphs.
Physical Requirements:
  • The physical demands of the position are listed in accordance with the requirements of the ADA as:
Standing – up to one fourth of the time.
Walking – up to one fourth of the time.
Sitting – up to three fourths of the time.
Talking/Listening – up to three fourths of the time.
Use of hands – up to three fourths of the time.
Climb or Balance – up to one fourth of the time.
Stoop or Kneel – up to one fourth of the time.
Reach with arms – up to one fourth of the time.
  • Body movements, lifting and exerting force – 25 pounds.
  • The Senses necessary for the successful performance of this position are:
Hearing – the ability to communicate effectively.
Vision – the ability to record and prepare reports.
  • The ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as eye protection, back protection, ear protection, etc. as necessary or required.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Environmental Conditions:
The environmental conditions of the area in which the person shall perform his/her duties consist of ambient temperature variations, dust, fumes, and elevated noise levels found in a manufacturing environment in this geographical area.
Reporting Relationships:
The Jr Buyer is selected by, and reports directly to the Purchasing Manager.
Authority:
The Jr Buyer has full operating authority to fulfill the responsibilities of the position as described in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities section of this Operating Procedure.
Performance Criteria:
  • Perform each essential function listed in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities section satisfactorily.
