Construction Materials Project Manager

S&ME is seeking a Project Manager with experience in Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspection (SI) projects to join our dynamic team to manage a large, multi-year project located in the Paducah/Calvert City, Kentucky area, and help pursue and manage projects in the Clarksville, Tennessee metropolitan area. The ideal candidate would reside in or near the Clarksville, Tennessee metropolitan area and when hired would report to leadership in S&ME's Nashville office. As a Construction Materials Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing materials testing and special inspection projects, ensuring the highest level of quality and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with clients, project teams, and laboratory staff to deliver successful projects while upholding our core values and commitment to excellence.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections projects of varying scales, overseeing every phase, including budget allocations, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Client Collaboration: Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and ensure their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Team Supervision and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor a team of professionals and field-based staff in client development and project management, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Client Base Development: Help grow and maintain a local client base and professional network capable of generating sufficient revenue to meet financial objectives.
  • Business Development Coordination: Support local business development and marketing efforts to expand market presence and opportunities.
  • Cost Estimation and Proposal Management: Generate and review field and laboratory cost estimates and proposals in alignment with project plans, International Building Code (IBC) requirements, and client requests for proposals.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field
  • 4 yearsexperience with Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects with at least 1 year of project management experience
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kentucky and Tennessee, or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of the hire date, preferred
  • A strong working knowledge of applicable ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, and IBC Special Inspections
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail
