The Lancaster County Farmer's Market in Wayne, Pennsylvania has been serving mainline friends and families for more that 80 years. We are a local farmers market offering the best all-around fresh produce, meats, lunchmeats, cheeses, seafood, baked breads, cakes, pies, imported meats & cheese, and specialty cultural foods from all around the world. And, the great thing is, it's all under one roof!

We are looking for a Market Manager to provide onsite management of the market. Primary responsibilities include oversight of daily market operations while focusing on building vendor relationships and ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for market customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Market Operations

• Create a marketplace that is safe and welcoming to customers and vendors.
• Coordinate, decide, and communicate market hours/times/days of week related to holiday weeks, weather conditions, and other non-routine schedules.
• Work with municipal organizations to keep market operations and improvements within regulation of ordinance.
• Coordinate with external vendors for facilities maintenance projects above experience level.
• Initiate/update protocol for responding to spills, emergencies or any market policy violations.
• Plan, implement, and/or support special events such as food demonstrations, book signings, etc.
• Perform additional duties to assist with SCW Market Manager(s).
• Perform entry level maintenance and janitorial tasks.

Vender Relations

• Be present and visible on open Market days (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday).
• Manage relationships, communication, and lease guidelines with vendors.
• Recruitment and retention of vendors.
• Manage new/termination of leases with guidance from CEO.
• Communicate market policies, activities, and rules to all vendors.
• Manage vendor actions/behaviors to align with “Operating Rules” established policies.

Customer Relations

• Be present on market floor during hours of operation.
• Embody a service mindset by doing the small things every day to ensure a smooth operating market day and a great customer experience.
• Maintain a clean market, keep carts in rotation, perform other daily tasks.
• Be proactive with customer engagement and assistance.
• Answer questions/return market phone calls.

Advertising/Marketing

• Manage social media accounts for LCFM and coordinate marketing amongst/between vendors when possible.
• Find and manage advertising opportunities.

Skills and Qualifications

• Higher education and/or equivalent experience in food or market business trades, business leadership, etc.
• A working knowledge of basic business and food retail operations, experience working with small- business owners, and/or past experience owning a small business.
• Can work independently, organized and detail oriented.
• Possesses an ownership mindset.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Social Media apps and other technology platforms.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance.
• Ability to communicate effectively. (interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills)
• Must have a strong team player focus in all interactions- ability to work under pressure.
• Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
• Maintain confidentiality with company information.
• Valid driver’s license.
