S.C. Herman & Associates is Hiring an Environmental Services Cleaner Near Washington, DC

Our commercial real estate & property management company is looking to hire a full-time office cleaner near Dupont Circle in Washington, DC.

As a full-service firm that directly employs all on-site staff, we maintain and handle all of the day-to-day activities that occur in and around the building, including mechanical services, environmental care, and lease compliance. Working independently but with the support of a small and dedicated team, the primary responsibilities of the Environmental Services Cleaner include cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, dusting, and removing trash from offices, all in accordance with industry standards/tenant contractual obligation. This position is customer-service oriented and requires a positive attitude and great communication skills. A high school diploma is required, some cleaning experience is preferred, and the candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment background check. The working schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:30am to 7:00pm.

Job Title: Utility Specialist (Cleaner)

Reports To: Property Manager

Position Summary
Responsible for routine daily cleaning of the building’s interior common and tenant space areas. Keep facilities and common areas clean and maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs various routine cleaning tasks to maintain the cleanliness of interior spaces that include, but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting surfaces, and vacuuming carpeted areas.
  • Dusts and/or wipes surfaces, fixtures, and furniture as needed (including door jams, chair rollers, etc.).
  • Cleans glass doors at the building entrance.
  • Cleans restrooms as prescribed by industry standards for public/commercial facilities.
  • Responds to spot-cleaning tenant requests as needed.
  • Provides janitorial support to other departments as needed.
  • Reports any facility-related issues, major repairs or observed damage, emergency maintenance problems, and/or environmental hazards.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug-screening test.
  • Must be able to pass/maintain a security screening, if required.
  • Basic proficiency in reading and writing of the English language.
  • Previous cleaning experience preferred.
  • Willingness to perform all required tasks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of work safety habits.
  • Ability to professionally represent the company.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers and tenants.
  • Ability to work alone and/or with a team.

Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED required.

Expected Hours of Work
Typical work hours for this position are 10:30am to 7:00pm, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays.
