We are searching for a skilled and hard-working Construction Deckhand with maritime experience to join our expanding team.
Job Summary: A Construction Deck Hand is responsible for performing a variety of tasks including; welding / hot work, rigging, ropes and lines.
Responsibilities:
? Ensure the work area is properly maintained, clean and tidy at all times
? Learn and demonstrate practical knowledge of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of location and use of all safety equipment
? Welding metal pipes, plates, and other materials to build
? Inspecting welds to ensure they are strong, durable, and according to specification
? Perform maintenance and construction tasks as required
Experience, Qualifications & Education:
? Minimum of two (2) years of related experience preferred
? High School Diploma or GED required
? Postsecondary certificate or an associates degree in any welding-related field preferred
? Valid Driver's License required
? Preferred experience with marine industry
? Ability to work in confined spaces
? Ability to endure noisy environments due to frequent use of power equipment and tools
? Physical strength, stamina, and mental alertness
? Lifting and rigging experience
? Attention to detail
? Good communication skills
? Knowledge of welding safety standards.
? Knowledge and execution of various welding techniques
? Knowledgeable in metallurgy principles to (choose appropriate material and welding process for every job)
? Strong problem-solving skills to resolve an issue that arises while welding
? Installing, maintaining, and repairing oil drill machinery
? Proficiency in operating welding equipment and tools
? Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
? Ability to use hand tools and power tools
Physical Requirements:
? Must be able to reach, grasp, bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel
? Work in all types of climates
? Work in confined spaces and at heights in excess of 50 feet
? Lift and carry 50-75 lbs for several hundred feet
? Ability to swim
