Program Support Specialist - Employment

REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA Classification: Non - Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ryan Community, Inc. (RCI) Program Support Specialist - Employment is committed to serving the mission of Ryan Community. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Employment Specialist works as part of a team to provide employment services and supervision to male residents. This position would operate specifically in afternoons and evenings, and every other weekend. This is a part-time position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Employment – Transportation:

  • Assists with resident employment at partnered agencies, including hiring paperwork, agency interactions, and admin tasks.
  • Transports residents to and from jobs each day.
  • Addresses any employment or behavioral issues with residents and partnered agencies.

Client Safety & Monitoring:

  • Monitors and supervises all residents to ensure program rules/policies are followed.
  • Accounts for residents’ locations & activities throughout the day/night (documenting locations).
  • Administers breathalyzer and UA tests randomly and/or when suspicion of alcohol or drug use exists. Documents all performed tests and enters test results. Reports suspected drug use to on call staff.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with clients and maintain client confidentiality, including former clients.

Administrative:

Ensures proper report writing:

  • Updates resident treatment file to include all observations of behaviors/attitudes throughout shift as instructed by treatment staff
  • Summarizes significant daily activities in ISPs and email.
  • Prepares monthly medication sheets and high-risk monitor logs prior to 1st of month.
  • Administers medication to residents and documents data per Medication Administration Guidelines.
  • Updates Medication administration record for newly issued medications.
  • Performs various duties as needed: Filing and other administrative tasks and general office, fire drills, meal prep planning and inventory.

Residential Oversight:

  • Executes room searches areas. Confiscates any contraband material.
  • Documents notable client interactions and activities in individual service plan, including observations of behaviors/attitudes throughout shift.
  • Documents and recounts shift events with other staff through written and face to face communication.
  • Reports major violations and suspected drug use to on call staff.
  • Assigns and ensures completion of daily chores with residents.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

1. Associate’s degree in relevant business field (Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field); equivalent work experience in Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) with correctional or AODA residents may be considered in lieu of degree.

2. Works proactively to address issues and identify solutions with day-to-day activities.

3. Demonstrates ability to multi-task; able to flex/respond in a CBRF.

4. Demonstrates solid decision-making capabilities, using sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and self-motivation required.

6. Ability to communicate and partner effectively with a variety of professionals: county, state, corrections, housing, other non-profits.

7. Must demonstrate an exemplary commitment to provide exceptional resident service.

8. Ability to work under pressure with demanding deadlines.

9. A driver license and clean driving record.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

10. Ability to function throughout the office for extended periods of time.

11. Must demonstrate physical agility (bending, twisting, reaching, and pulling) for equipment and supplies.

12. Communicate with the public and co-workers through two-way verbal communication (speech and hearing).

13. Travel independently to various locations.

14. Operate office equipment; i.e. personal computer, telephone, fax.

15. Work daytime, nighttime and weekend hours.

16. Work independently with minimal supervision.

17. Adept at applying analytical and decision-making capabilities.

18. Comprehend written and/or verbal communication.
