RWS Global is currently seeking a Costume Shop Manager to serve as an in-house manager of client accounts, spanning corporate events, theme parks, cruise ships, and other projects within the company. Reporting to the Director, Wardrobe and Costumes, the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day to day needs of the costume shop, hiring and overseeing seasonal labor for projects at sea and in office. Ensuring the quality of the work coming out of the costume shop.Roles & Responsibilities
Qualifications
- Hire All Stitchers for both internal RWS Stitching needs, as well as onboard roles - with assistance of the coordinator.
- Submission and accounting for stitcher times cards.
- Overseeing, and management of the labor budget
- Provide leadership and management to the Costume Shop staff.
- Manage all Costume shop facilities, equipment, and resources, including labor.
- Supervise the construction, alteration, repair, purchase, cleaning/maintenance and storage of costumes, wigs.
- Responsible for pack outs and ensures inventories are complete - working with the Ops Manager, and Coordinator and Lead Stitcher on the project. Quality Control.
- Must have advanced knowledge of professional theatrical costume construction techniques.
- Provide inventory update and recommendations for restocking needs for the Wardrobe supplies.
- Responsible for inventory and management of an expansive stock of costumes, shoes, wigs, jewelry, and accessories.
- Oversees stitcher quality and instructing of how notes need to be executed to new stitchers.
- Conduct fittings for all productions and other events when manager can't be present.
Qualifications
- Minimum BFA/BA degree in Theatrical Design or Technology or comparable work experience working in a theatre or entertainment production company wardrobe or costume department.
- Experience in the entertainment and live event production industry.
- Proficiency in iWork and MS Office applications
- Ability to meet deadlines, often with narrow time and budget constraints.
- Advanced knowledge of hand and machine sewing techniques. Garment finishing with an understanding of theatrical costume construction techniques and terms.
- Experience in theme park and cruise ship wardrobe genres preferred.
- Craft skills, mask making, dyeing, paint, millinery, and shoe maintenance knowledge.
- Extremely detail oriented and responsible.
- Strong team player.
- A valid passport for the duration of employment.
- Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (or proof of exemption) will be required.
- Resident: Team members who are expected to perform their job in the RWS New York City headquarters due to the nature of their primary duties and responsibilities.
