Job Overview:

The Mental Health Screener responds to the emotional needs of those requesting assistance through screening, assessment, crisis intervention, referral and outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

* Master's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required

* Certified New Jersey Mental Health Screener or immediately eligible within six months of hire required

* Two years experience in a mental health setting, preferably in crisis intervention/emergency services

Scheduling Requirements:

* Full-Time

* Evening Shift

* 36 hours per week

Essential Functions:

* Brings all unusual situations, incidents or difficulties encountered to the provision of emergency services to the attention of the Director or his/her designate

* Facilitates voluntary/involuntary hospitalization of clients in accordance with the Emergency Services policies and procedures

* Fully documents all client contacts and submits in a timely manner

* Provides and completes all documentation records and forms as stipulated in the Emergency Services Department policies and procedures

* Provides crisis intervention, information, and referral services on the telephone, in the Emergency Room and throughout the community

* Provides weekend, evening, and holiday coverage depending on the program needs

* Performs all other duties as assigned
