The Role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team. As the Data Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, building, and managing our data infrastructure and analytics platform. This is a hybrid role based in Charlotte, NC, offering the opportunity to work with a talented and diverse team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of our data infrastructure, including data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL processes, to support business intelligence and reporting needs.
• Rebuild legacy data warehouses and modernize our data platform, leveraging modern technologies and best practices to improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Build a data, BI, and reporting stack from scratch, including ETL processes from multiple systems, transformation into data marts, and creation of reusable reports and dashboards.
• Manage a team of data engineers, both onshore and offshore, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to drive team performance and development.
• Collaborate closely with executives and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, prioritize initiatives, and align data strategy with business objectives.
• Work closely with business users to gather requirements, define data dictionaries, and ensure data quality and integrity in reporting solutions.
• Incorporate AI/ML capabilities into the data pipeline, leveraging machine learning algorithms and techniques to enhance data analysis and insights generation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with a track record of success in building and managing data infrastructure and analytics platforms.
• Strong experience with modern data technologies and platforms. Experience building in an Azure-based platform, so previous experience with Azure Synapse and Data Factory is a requirement.
• Proven experience managing teams of data engineers, both onshore and offshore, with a focus on driving collaboration, innovation, and results.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with executives, business users, and technical teams.
• Experience working in the finance/insurance industry or InsurTech space is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and techniques, with the ability to integrate machine learning capabilities into the data pipeline.
