We are currently hiring for our AM position which begins at 6am and ends at 1pm. Specifically, this position is open to candidates who plan to work through December 2024 at a minimum. We are not hiring summer-only at this time. Either 1 Full Time position or multiple part time positions are available for this role.

Essential Duties

• A Shift Leader’s primary responsibility beyond being a model-exemplary Team Member is to encourage the team around them to maintain our critically important ‘Always Ready’ status. Cleaning as we go, maintaining sidework, being accountable and reliable to our responsibilities & communication all contribute to Rutabaga’s success in serving fresh food FAST to our customers.
• A great Shift Leader acts as a coach to our Team Members, encouraging & inspiring them to strive for improvement and proficiency every day. Our measure of a great leader is through the success and growth of the team around you.
• Provide top-knotch customer service, striving to serve quick & accurately while making a joyful and humble guest experience.
• Prepare craft smoothies, smoothie bowls, espresso drinks, toasts & oat bowls to order with the care & efficiency required for a quick-service restaurant.
• Maintaining the highest quality standards by adhering to all Rutabaga recipes & taking pride in the food & drink you craft
• Keeping your work environment tidy and sanitary at all times – working professionally in the kitchen to maintain our high standards.
• Promptly greeting guests and completing orders accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintaining dining rooms and other kitchen areas throughout your shift to maintain our clean standards
• Being a Team Player always to accomplish our service goals every shift.
• Ensure proper FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation on all products in our coolers, freezers and in our food inventory areas
• Maintain fully stocked and faced juice coolers at all times

Qualifications

• Natural Leadership soft skills like critical thinking, problem solving and maintaining composure under pressure.
• Possess an energetic, spirited approach to customer service and teamwork
• Be confident in using blending equipment, assembling ingredients and general knife use
• The ability to multitask and work in a time-sensitive manner
• Strong work ethic, time management skills & a sense of urgency
• At least 1 year experience working in a fast-paced café environment a plus, but not required. Previous leadership experience or kitchen prep experience a plus. Fast-tracking to Shift Lead roles available with preferred experience.
• Passion for making healthy, whole food more convenient a plus!
• A commitment to bringing a humble approach to your work and a willingness to learn and grow together

Schedule

• Shifts range from 4 to 8 hours
• Shifts begin as early as 6am and end by 7pm (typically, by 6pm)
• Some Weekend availability required
• Minimum of two shifts per week required
• Must have your own means of transportation or be comfortable using Lyft, Uber or Ride Shares to ensure you arrive at work as scheduled.

Working Conditions

• Stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb step ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders, and squat.
• Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 lbs. Push and pull carts up to 100lbs.
• Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezers, outdoors, etc)

Pay: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour
