Title : Waterjet Operator

Shift : Off shift, 4pm-2am, Monday-Thursday

Pay : $20-$24 / hr plus $.90 shift differential

Waterjet Operator Role :

Sets up and operates a water jet to cut metallic barrels that are utilized in the injection and extrusion molding machines.

Sets up and operates vertical grinding machine to grinding flat surface on the metallic barrels. This work involves finishing to close tolerance dimensions using a Grinding Machine, related tooling, and inspection gages.

Work from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications, job orders, tooling instructions and standard charts to obtain such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.

Make required adjustments to machinery to compensate for material tooling, machine, or conditions. Troubleshoot and resolve various types of operating difficulties, recommend corrective action on process failures within the department.

Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions.

Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.

Maintains a clean and orderly (6S) work area and equipment to ensure a safe and productive work

environment and quality products.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work

orders, specifications, drawings, blueprints, and procedure manuals.

• Sets up, operates, and performs preventive maintenance of grinding machine and water jet equipment.
• Positions workpiece in fixture or on machine table verifying position with instruments such as surface gages and dial indicators.
• Selects feed rate and grinding speed to optimize metal removal according to knowledge of metal properties, abrasives, and shop mathematics.
• Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments and tools to ensure proper tolerances are maintained.
• Replace worn grinding stones when needed to maintain high quality standards.
• Meets established standards for productivity and quality.
• Safely operates overhead crane systems and material handling equipment to move product.

About you :

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Certificate in Machining, Manufacturing, or equivalent preferred
• Must be able to safely operate machining equipment and overhead cranes 8-10 hours per day
• Ability to accurately perform basic math functions as required by the position and apply those functions to units of measure related to measurement, volume, and distance
• Ability to learn and proficiently use ERP system (MS AX or other)
• Knowledge and understanding of basic inventory control processes and procedures, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work with others collaboratively to resolve issues
• Ability to follow policies, procedures, and work instructions
• Ability and desire to learn and adapt to new processes, and to generate and implement continuous improvement initiatives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation :

• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally throughout the scheduled workday.
• Position may require person to sit at a desk for up to 4 hours, constantly performing repetitive motions to use a personal computer and other office equipment, as well as walking around an office and industrial environment.
• Ability to see (including close vision, color vision, and depth perception) and hear in order to perform the functions of this position.
• Ability to speak, write and understand English fluently.
