A day in the life…

Individuals in General Maintenance have a direct role in the chocolate production process from beginning to end. You will be responsible for ensuring each piece of candy that comes out of our facility is "Only the Finest" quality that our customer has grown to expect.

Typical hours for this position are Mon-Thurs 5:30 am-4:00 pm with overtime as needed.

What you will be doing…

  • Keeping scheduled production machinery operating efficiently with minimal down time.
  • Must have multi-disciplined skills including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Performs maintenance for entire plant.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics in blueprint form including ladder logic diagrams.
  • Request, receives, secures, and maintains supplies and materials required for job.
  • Operates and maintains machinery, equipment, and tools in a safe and proficient manner according to standards, guidelines, and instructions.
  • Accounts for all labor, parts, and operational supplies in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required and provided by the company; wears appropriate uniform/clothing in accordance with GMP’s/company standards.
  • Ensures safe and proper use of tools and equipment; ensures hand tools are free of defects; maintains neat and orderly work area, including proper storage/disposal of lubricants, solvents, paint and other chemicals in accordance with OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies and company policy.
  • Requires heavy lifting at times.
  • Conforms to rules.
  • Involves mandatory overtime, weekend work, and ability to be “on call” or called back to work.
  • Responsibility to clean up after any work performed.
  • May be assigned other duties by plant management as required.

Do you have what it takes? 

(Basic Qualifications)

  • Previous industrial maintenance experience.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office products. (email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must have ability to routinely and frequently stand, stoop, bend, climb and lift to meet cleaning requirements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and possess motor skills enabling mobility and quick reflexes.
  • Must have visual/hearing ability sufficient to recognize or detect warning devices/signs.
  • Must be able to stand on hard surfaces for the duration of a 10-hour shift.
  • 1 Year Operating Machinery
  • 1 Year working in a Food Manufacturing Environment

  • At least 2 years’ experience in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Excel, Power Point)
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.

  • Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide protective gear. We also go through an in-depth Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training on your first day and continue to share safety tips daily.
  • Surroundings. You’ll be working around different machines – Schubert’s, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and chocolate candy banks/steels.
  • Activity. Some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs/ladders, and routinely lift 50 lbs.
  • Temperature. You will be comfortable year-round with our climate-controlled environment. Our temperatures are consistently around 63°F but could fluctuate depending on your specific role.
  • Smell. You will enjoy a variety of deliciously sweet aromas and you may end your day smelling like chocolate!
  • Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for food safety, personal safety and in guidance with our good manufacturing practices (GMP). Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required. Leather, imitation leather, rubber boots or shoes must be worn in the kitchen and other areas when working around hot liquid/product or hot water.
