Russell Marine is Hiring a Concrete Superintendent Near Charleston, SC

As a Concrete Superintendent, this position is responsible for providing concrete project leadership by directing field activities through the Concrete Foremen who report to this position. Works closely with the Project Manager, other discipline Superintendents, Foremen, and other skilled or semi-skilled craft workers on the job site.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to plan and execute concrete construction projects by creating and maintaining project schedules and reviewing critical path dates and milestones to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise project objectives and plans with Russell Marine craft and other trades.
  • Plan for job equipment, material, and personnel requirements as far in advance as possible.
  • Train and develop foremen on projects as well as develop a solid mentoring system for crew.
  • Complete all necessary daily job logs.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Apprise the Project Manager of potential challenges and problems prior to and during project.
  • Maintain good working relationship with the Project Manager and seek assistance in the scheduling of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain communication and constantly monitor subcontractors to ensure vital materials, equipment, inspections, etc. support project activities and schedule to meet contract requirements.
  • Participate in safety and environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of state/federal regulations and improve existing company programs.
  • Perform project close-out and ensures punch list is completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be willing/eligible to obtain one upon hire. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years concrete experience on work barges or jobsites or equivalent experience in construction supervising multiple crews completing large scale projects.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers. Demonstrate knowledge of practices & materials involved in concrete construction, general equipment, cranes, and rigging, as well as various concrete formwork systems, plan reading, and concrete finishing. Demonstrate ability to recognize and correct any unsafe conditions that may exist or occur on the jobsite. Bilingual (English and Spanish).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years concrete experience on work barges or jobsites or equivalent experience in construction supervising multiple crews completing large scale projects.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
  • The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes a hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal floatation devices (PFD), and/or other protective equipment.
  • The individual frequently works near moving mechanical parts and must be able to adapt to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
  • The individual may be required to work long hours and/or weekends. Additionally, some out-of-town or overnight travel may be required.
  • The individual may occasionally be required to sit in a vehicle for up to 8 hours.
  • The individual may be required to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
  • The individual may occasionally be required to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, or sit for long periods.
  • The individual may be required to work in confined spaces, climb vertical ladders of a height of 6 ft. or greater, and/or elevated heights.
  • The individual may be required to lift objects with a minimum of 10 lbs. and a maximum single-person lift of 50 lbs. This could result in frequent lifting or carrying depending on project needs.
  • The individual may be required to perform repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work.
