We are seeking a creative and a self-motivated post-doctoral fellow to join the Chen laboratory at Rush University in the department of Microbial Pathogens and Immunity. The fellows will work on a project exploring epithelial cell-autonomous defense in the infectious diseases at the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The Chen laboratory has an interest in the pathogenesis of GI infectious diseases, particularly these opportunistic infections in immunocompromised individuals. The research projects will utilize a wide range of experimental models (such as cell cultures, ex vivo organoids and in vivo animal models) and advanced cellular and molecular biological techniques (such as qRT-PCR, Western blot, cloning, siRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 approach, RIP, ChIP, and RNA-seq, etc.).
The post-doctoral fellows will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Independently perform related studies
Solve and report scientific/technical problems encountered during research
Collect and analyze research data and prepare and present poster/slide presentations for internal progress reports/presentation at scientific meetings
Write scientific manuscript(s) for publication of completed research
Required Job Qualifications:
PhD or PhD/MD.
Experience in biology and/or infectious disease research.
Solid publication track record.
Effective writing skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience with non-coding RNAs or tumor cell biology.
Experience with molecular cloning.
Experience with CRISPR/Cas 9 approach.
