Performance Improvement Consultant 1
The Performance Improvement Patient Safety Consultant serves as an internal consultant for all levels of the Medical Center. The Consultant leads improvement activities, which are strategically aligned with the organizational goals using accepted improvement methodologies, including measurement, analysis, development of improvement plan, and the reporting of project results. The Consultant establishes strong working relationships with interdisciplinary members of the health care team including the medical staff, nursing and other operational areas, administration, and support services. The Consultant develops and presents data including executive summary reports, balanced score cards, and other reporting formats via committee structures as assigned. The position encompasses project management, consultation, facilitation, data abstraction, analytics and interpretation. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Functions as a performance improvement patient safety expert
Performs detailed root cause analysis of adverse events and near misses or other identified improvement initiatives
Uses occurrence data to identify potential system issues, and performs common cause analysis
Collaborates with process owners on the development of corrective action plans; provides monitoring, implementation and data management assistance as needed.
Determines strategies to meet educational needs regarding patient safety methods throughout organization. Provides training and education to all levels of the medical center on RUMCs patient safety methodology
Manages, plans and executes all performance improvement patient safety activities utilizing the RUMC performance improvement methodology
Partners with multidisciplinary teams to execute and drive performance improvement opportunities
Provides consultation regarding best practices with emphasis on process reengineering and systemic implementation
Serves as liaison with key stakeholders on tasks, deliverables and issues regarding improvement initiatives
Facilitates successful transition of improvement initiatives to sustain project improvements
Creates and monitors dashboards related to patient safety metrics.
Facilitates organizational daily safety huddles
Required Job Qualifications:
Master's Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum of 2 years of patient safety process improvement experience related to guiding organizations in removing barriers to optimal performance
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Facilitation of teams and projects
Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking skills
Flexibility to meet organizational goals and adapting to changing needs
Ability to meet internal and external customer needs
Ability to lead others through uncertainty
Ability to perform tasks independently and prioritize workload
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Striving for excellence and ability to motivate teams towards excellence
Preferred Job Qualifications:
RN with current Illinois license
Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
