General Summary:
Entry-level position in the EPI/ translational research family. The Research Assistant is responsible for collecting information from participants according to the research study protocols. He or she may conduct interviews, epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collect data and/or biological samples from research participants and families in studies. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Principal Responsibilities:
May recruit, screen, and schedule potential study participants.
Utilizes approved informed consent and HIPAA procedures.
Administers involved, systematic tests and questionnaires including the assessment of participant eligibility, level of function, and/or response to intervention(s) according to research study protocols.
Helps maintain study procedure documentation.
Prepares study-related materials.
May assist with data entry, cleaning, and guided analysis.
Monitors study participants as required by the study protocol.
Maintains supply inventory.
May utilize study-related devices and equipment as part of assessment procedures.
Maintains study records and edits for completeness and accuracy.
Attends regular team meetings.
Troubleshoots field issues when necessary. Uses discretion to resolve issues when unplanned events arise.
Qualifications:
Some college with prior data collection experience is required.
Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred. If degree, no prior experience required ·
Prior work with research study protocols preferred
Detail oriented with high attention to accuracy ·
Demonstrates basic computer skills
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to develop rapport with a diverse pool of research participants
Ability to navigate sensitive topics and maintain the confidentiality of participants ·
Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settings
May require 6-8 weeks of training depending on study protocols
Availability to work evenings, overnight, and weekends if called for under the study protocols

Frequent offsite travel, and travel outside the metropolitan Chicago area are required.
Will administer neuropsychological, lifestyle, and physical function tests with aging participants in religious communities, retirement facilities, and participants' homes.
Obtains, stores, and ships specimens which include drawing blood and additional specimens as required by the research protocol.
Experience working with older adults preferable
