Summary: Under general supervision, performs non-complex maintenance and repairs on a variety of plumbing, mechanical and electrical equipment. The General Maintenance Worker also performs routine building repair tasks. Demonstrates professionalism and self-motivation in order to perform routine duties, and assisting others including outside vendors, as scheduled or required. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities: 1. Performs non-complex maintenance and repairs on a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment. 2. Performs routine building repair tasks and assist other members of the facilities team. 3. Performs routine carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs. 4. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment per the established Hospital PM Program. 5. Takes ownership of assigned zone to improve the zone maintenance program.
Other information: Required Job Qualifications: Must have Graduated High School or equivalent (GED) Must have 1 year of relevant work experience Ability to read and work from architectural and mechanical blue prints, drawings, and schematics. Basic interpersonal skills, analytical skills, and the ability to concentrate. Experienced with computers with an understanding in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Internet. Physical Demands: Safe use of hand and power tools. Capable of lifting furniture and building supplies weighing up to 60 pounds as much as 30% of work time. Generally able to conduct physical activities associated with the performance of this job.
