Rural Health Services Consortium Of Upper East... is Hiring a CMA Near Kingsport, TN

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides relevant nursing care in a primary care setting. Nursing care is provided under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Site Supervisor, Physician, and/or Director of Nursing. Responsibilities include collection of data, administration of treatments and RMA may with physician’s approval administer medications, and documentation of care provided.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Achieve Results

  • Improve patient outcomes, and deliver quality care within practice areas as assigned. Ensure all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, and patient satisfaction.
  • Ensures timely and accurate collection of patient data, and makes observations on assigned patients to provide supportive data in the patient assessment.
  • Promotes attainment of specified goals through health education to patients/families, and health care personnel as delegated by the Senior Site Supervisor, Physician and/or Director of Nursing.
  • Provides service in a manner that is appropriate for the patient’s age; demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs.
  • Ensure all patient charts and related documentations are maintained current and relevant at all time.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all care and nursing practices are conducted consistent within current, relevant standards, as well as state and local laws and regulations, the Bureau of Primary Health Care and related professional standards.
  • Demonstrate competency in practice and knowledge of current standards of practice.
  • Maintains credentials and performs current nursing practice expectations within established guidelines of the field of knowledge.
  • Provides care in a manner that respects the patient’s rights and choices in a multi-cultural setting.

Relationships

  • Develops and maintains favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers, nursing staff, physicians and business office staff.

Stewardship and Professionalism

  • Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all corporate policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.

PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES

  • Provide direct care to patients as assigned and qualified to perform.
  • Follow nursing plans to ensure maximum patient outcomes with supervision.
  • Provide counsel, support, advice, and support to patients and their families, as applicable with supervision.
  • Complete all patients charting, and ensure all patient records are current and complete.
  • Attend seminars and maintain all licensure requirements for continuing education and best practices.
  • Participates in quality strategies to evaluate compliance with standards and to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Prepare clinic rooms to assure they are stocked with necessary supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Cleans and disinfect equipment and supplies according to established guidelines.
  • Performs venipuncture on patients per order of provider following training.
  • Assist in clerical duties; referrals, respond to patient phone calls per guidelines, filing reports, taking messages and mailing necessary items, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrate a high level of skill at building relationships and customer service.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal savvy and influence skills in managing difficult clients and patients.
  • Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of nursing and associated charting requirements.
  • Requisite skills and ability to perform certain medical tasks as assigned per Senior Site Nurse, Physician, and/or Director of Nursing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Participates in training, assigned duties and meetings as required for Quality Improvement/Assurance Plan, PCMH, UDS, and NCQA accreditation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Completion or Certification from an accredited or vocational Registered Medical Assistant programs.

Experience

  • Demonstrated success in working within the health care arena, preferably in a primary care facility.
  • Significant knowledge of medical practices and procedures in a primary care environment.
  • Demonstrated success and experience with direct patient services (e.g., phlebotomy) and the proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment (e.g., EKG).

Physical/ Environmental

  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Exposure to excessive heat or cold as required.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • Handling or administering of narcotics by provider’s orders.
  • Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., without assistance and push and pull up to 250 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to sit in one place, stand, walk, squat, knell, reach, twist, crawl and bend throughout the shift.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motion, as well as using hands for gripping and squeezing.
  • Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive coordinated motions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
