The Risk Management Coordinator-Clinical assists the Director of Risk Management in coordinating the processes involved in managing general liability and risk exposure, including claims management, and plays a vital role in improving health outcomes and service, increasing patient safety, and reducing error in healthcare processes. This Clinical position must have experience in nursing practice, critical thinking skills and sound clinical judgment to assist the Director of Risk Management in making critical decisions about more clinically related risk management issues. The Coordinator will also be responsible for providing clinical risk management training.
Successful candidate will be LPN with active NC LPN license or RN with active NC RN license.Successful candidate must demonstrate the Rural Health Group Core Competencies, which include:Maintains the highest degree of confidentiality possible when performing any and all functions assigned.
Exceptional critical thinking skills, sound clinical judgment and knowledge of nursing practice required. Must be able to assist Director with decisions related to clinical risk management issues.
Assists Director of Risk Management with complaints received through the Corporate Hotline, Customer Service email or other methods; documents patient and staff complaints in a timely manner according to RHG policy.
Assists Director of Risk Management with maintaining variance/risk management database.
Analyzes all statistical reports and advisories that identify risk management and patient safety patterns and trends for leadership.
Serves as liaison to external regulatory agencies for purposes of patient and physician reporting, event investigation, and response.
Manages employee CPR certifications and employee immunizations including Hepatitis B status, PPD, influenza, etc.
Assists Director of Risk Management in providing Risk Management training to all staff within the organization; this includes documenting, maintaining records and reporting on training, as needed.
Uses compliance operating system to assist in training and documentation of training; also, policy and incident management.
Acts as ‘back-up’ facility expert resource in risk reduction and keeps abreast of trends in the industry.
Develops statistical and qualitative reports on risk management trends and patterns and communicates this information effectively to appropriate audiences.
Follows RHG Clinical Standards and Clinical Guidelines as required by the BPHC and FTCA.REQUIREMENTS
