Position: Store Manager
Reports to: Director of Operations
Location: Various Within States of RI & MA
SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:
The Store Manager has an ultimate responsibility for creating and maintaining a friendly environment with a best in class shopping experience. The Manager oversees and is accountable for the day to day operation of a store ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, human resources management, and managing operating costs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Ensure that each pet parent receives outstanding guest service by providing a warm environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, develop and maintain guest relationships, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and a healthy overall culture that is consistent with the organization.
· Ensure that individual and store wide sales goals are met along with providing security and upholding loss prevention tactics.
· Analyze and measure business trends; uphold the latest promotional discounts marketed by the company; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives; create price match reports, order special orders for customers as well as properly maintain returns for credit to all vendors.
· Ensure all cash handling, calculate safe deposits along with register and uphold all fiscal policies and procedures.
· Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies and presentations; signing, and assortment in all departments based on seasonality; ensure selling floor is adequately stocked and that signage outside is displayed; transfer items to other stores and receive weekly deliveries of product and merchandise.
· Responsible for opening or closing the store and facilitation of all security protocols.
· Perform Physical Inventories when scheduled.
· Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store management and staff meetings, store walk-through and audits; write out task sheets
· Continually evaluate and manage performance of staff, conduct annual performance reviews.
· Lead, train, and develop store team members in all aspects of the business; monitor training and development for all store personnel.
· Promptly Report and investigate workplace accidents, injuries, incidents, or illnesses involving employees within the location
· Assist in running weekend events when needed.
· Supervise and work with Rescue Groups on adoption days; develop relationships with community members and organizations
Position Qualifications:
· Education: High school or equivalent.
· 2-3 years of the store leadership experience in retail industry, preferably in pet, grocery, or drug store environments.
· Ability to work flexible full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
· Solid understanding of budget and P&L.
Physical Requirements:
· Ensures physical maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of all store facilities
· Ability to regularly lift up to 50 (fifty) lbs. from floor level to above shoulder height.
· Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
