What We Need:

We are looking for a Vice President of Innovation to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team. 

The Vice President of Innovation oversees the innovation strategy, portfolio, and pipeline, and manages the innovation team, budget, and resources. This role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, partners, research institutes, and industry associations, to identify market needs, trends, and opportunities, and to generate and evaluate ideas and concepts.

What You Will Do:

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to generate and evaluate ideas for new products and features
• Create and test prototypes and validate assumptions with customers and users
• Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for innovation projects and communicate them to internal and external stakeholders
• Build and lead an advanced development team and manage the budget and timeline for innovation projects
• Establish and implement best practices and processes for advanced development tied to agile methodologies
• Monitor and measure the impact and performance of innovation projects and report on key metrics and learnings
• Deliver impactful, evidence-based presentations and speeches to internal and external stakeholders.

What You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Advanced degrees preferred.
• At least 12 years of progressive relevant experience required; 15 years of experience preferred.
• At least 8 years of people management/leadership experience preferred.

• Strong business acumen including market trends and analysis, and financial statements.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong teams that can effectively lead cross functional initiatives and interact with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to attract, develop and retain talent.
• Proven strategic thinking ability including the ability to understand complex business data, summarize and communicate decision making recommendations.
• Proven customer focus.
• Ability to develop market-back business requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure with changing priorities and meet deadlines with quality output.
