The Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor is seeking an Interim School Administrator for the 2024-25 academic year. Our search for a permanent Administrator will be launched in Fall of 2024, and candidates interested in the interim position will be considered for the position if they choose to apply. This role offers a unique opportunity to connect and support all levels of our school. Our school values authentic relationships, collaboration, and creating a healthy learning environment for students, faculty, and parents. We welcome and embrace the School Administrator as a key role in fostering these aspects of our community.

Qualifications
We are seeking the right person to hold and support our school during this significant administrative transition. The ideal person will have strong collaborative, communication, and listening skills. Being able to understand, maintain and implement the current school processes and governance model are essential to this interim role, as is a strong understanding of Waldorf Education and collaborative governance. A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree or other higher education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Support: Work in a supportive role to help guide leadership transition over the coming twelve months supporting all levels of the school, the Board of Trustees, and the College of Teachers as we seek a School Administrator to start in summer 2025.
  • Pedagogical Support: Support pedagogical work in the school through participating and supporting Carrying Groups (leadership groups) at each level of the school.
  • Operational Management: Work with our Operational Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring the continuation of efficient administrative processes, financial stability and ongoing compliance with educational regulations and standards.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in the Board, College of Teachers, school committees, Parent Council, events, and school activities to sustain and nurture relationships and community across the school and out into the wider community.

Details of Employment

  • This is a full-time, salaried, interim position from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025
  • Competitive salary of 72k-90k.
  • Benefits package includes health insurance, tuition remission and professional development funds.
  • The Interim Administrator is hired by the Board of Trustees and reports to that body.
  • Candidates for the permanent School Administrator position are encouraged to apply. You would serve as interim and be considered in the fall for the permanent role.

Support and Mentoring
The Board and College of Teachers will ensure that this position is strongly supported. The Board has retained our current School Administrator, Sian Owen-Cruise, for significant weekly mentoring and support for this role. The College Chair and Board Chair will regularly meet with the Interim Administrator as talking partners for connection to the work of the College and Board. The pedagogical and administrative coordinating groups in the school also offer significant support. RSSAA just completed our accreditation process, and all our processes are fully documented and accessible. The current School Administrator will also be available to manage ongoing specialized areas of work as needed.
