Necessary Skills

• Prepare returns for sales and use tax and other state and local taxes
• Research and consult on various state and local tax matters
• Utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns
• Prepare responses to inquiries from tax authorities
• Maintain a good working relationship with clients and staff at all levels to gather information and provide tax services
• Work closely with managers and partners to promptly resolve client matters or tax issues encountered in preparation process
• Gain understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives, and utilize that knowledge on engagements
• Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis
• Maintain awareness of industry trends and governmental regulations
• Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
• Travel may be required
• Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality

Preferred Skills / Experience

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or related degree
• A minimum of one year current or recent sales/use tax experience
• Strong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology
• Excellent analytical ability
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Proven ability to meet multiple challenging client requirements and provide services with effective time management
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required)
• Experience with Avalara and Vertex preferred but not required
• Strict adherence to professional ethics
• Ability to successfully contribute to the success of a strategic business unit of the firm
